This is definitely not a post that will disparage any of the other automatic cleansing brushes on the market. For one, I haven’t tried all of them. And two, I believe on some level they all work to the best of their ability, so if you have one that you love by all means stick with it. I happen to love my Olay Pro-X brush.
What do I love about it? I love how it exfoliates my skin. Years ago, I thought flaky patches I would see after I applied my makeup were dry skin. I would moisturize and moisturize those areas to counteract the less than pretty look I’d get with foundation or powder. I now know that it probably wasn’t dry skin but skin that needed to be sloughed off. It’s one problem that I do not have anymore and this brush works better than any washcloth or exfoliating cleansers I’ve tried.
I’ve read reviews about the Olay Pro-X brush and some people complain about the battery compartment being hard to remove. I didn’t have that problem. Others complained about not being able to apply cleanser directly to the brush. In my opinion, applying cleanser to the brush is a mistake because the bristles aren’t dense enough so your cleanser will fall to the base of brush. You’re much better off working the cleanser onto your face with your hands then using the brush. And since the brush spins rather than oscillates, lather may go flying if you’re not too careful.
I know a lot of people use automatic cleansing brushes to remove make-up. This brush probably could do that, but it doesn’t seem like it’s a good idea. If you’re washing off a full face of make-up you might have to make more than one pass. If you make multiple passes with this brush you run the risk of over-exfoliating so be careful. I prefer to get as much make-up off as I can with make-up remover wipes before I move on to using the brush because I only use it for 1-2 minutes on my face.
I used to really want the higher end cleansing brushes because I heard so many great things about them. Over time I’ve learned that this brush is doing what I want it to do so I want the other brushes less. Don’t get me wrong, I would totally try all of them, but I don’t have this longing for them anymore.
Have you tried this brush?
